How Our Condition Grading Works

Every open-box unit on our floor carries a letter grade on its tag and on its listing. The grade describes cosmetics only. It never describes mechanical condition, because mechanical condition is not negotiable: every unit is tested and running before it is listed, regardless of grade.

Grade A — no visible damage

The unit looks new. Either there is no mark at all, or there is one you have to be told about to find. Most Grade A units are refused deliveries and cancelled orders that were never uncrated.

Typical discount: 25–35% off retail.

Grade B — a visible mark, usually hidden after install

There is a scuff, a small dent, or a scratch you can see — but it is on a side panel, a back corner, or a lower edge that disappears once the appliance is between cabinets or against a wall. This is the sweet spot of the whole store.

Typical discount: 35–50% off retail.

Grade C — obvious cosmetic damage

A dented door, a scratched front panel, a bent kick plate: damage on a surface you will see every day. Priced to reflect that, and often the right call for a garage fridge, a rental, or a laundry room nobody photographs.

Typical discount: 45–60% off retail.

What the grade never covers

• Mechanical condition. Every grade is tested the same way.
• Missing parts. Shelves, racks, hoses, and hardware are inventoried against the manufacturer packing list. Anything missing is listed on the tag and discounted further.
• Warranty. Most units carry the balance of the full manufacturer warranty because they were never installed or registered. Where that does not apply, the listing says so, and our own 90-day outlet guarantee covers parts and labor instead.

Every listing is one specific serial number sitting in our West Sacramento warehouse. Call ahead, we pull it to the front and plug it in, and you decide in person whether the mark bothers you. Nobody has ever regretted looking first.
